In English · for owner-managers and the next generation around Køge

When the company is also the family

On letting go, taking over, and finding out who you are when the name on the facade is also your own.

This site describes online sessions with the psychologist Frank for owner-managers and the next generation around Køge. The sessions are offered by djursland-psykologen.dk, and that is where you sign up.

I

Sessions in English

The conversations can be held in English, online as well as in person in Mørke on Djursland. For people near Køge, online is the main route: no travelling, and nobody in town sees where you park.

Sessions are individual, at a fixed weekly time in the evening, with the same psychologist throughout. Everything you say is covered by professional confidentiality.

II

The themes

In a family business, the conversations are rarely clean. A meeting about the budget is also about who was looked after last Christmas. The person running the business is an owner, a manager and a family member at once, and the three roles keep blending.

  • How do you let go of leadership without letting go of your place in the family?
  • How do you take over from a parent who still walks the corridors?
  • What do you do with a loyalty that feels like a debt you can never repay?
  • Who are you when the title is no longer yours?

You do not need the answers with you. Often the question is enough. International families and people who work across borders are very welcome to use English.

Questions and answers

Who will know that I am having sessions?

Nobody, unless you tell them. Your GP, the municipality, your partner and your workplace are not informed. The sessions are private, no referral is needed, and they are covered by professional confidentiality under the Danish Psychologists Act.

Is this advice on ownership, tax or family disputes?

No. These are psychology sessions with you as the focus, not legal or financial advice. They do not replace a mediator in a conflict between family members.

Can the company pay?

Yes. Many clients have the invoice paid by their company or employer, and you are free to pay yourself. For the price, see practical information and price on the main site, which is in Danish.

Do I need to know what to talk about?

No. Many begin with one question or an unease they cannot yet put into words, and the rest follows from there.

If you need help now. There is a waiting list, so this offer is not suitable for acute situations. Please contact your GP or the out-of-hours medical service (lægevagten), and call 112 if it is urgent.
